Issues

“A stronger District 4 starts with fully funding our schools, support for the elderly, advocating for small businesses, and keeping our communities affordable and safe. A stronger community requires your participation.” – Jeff Durham

EDUCATION
PRODUCING QUALITY PUBLIC EDUCATION FOR STUDENTS IN OUR DISTRICT IS NON-NEGOTIABLE. I FAVOR:

  • Advocate for reinvesting more city resources educational development within public school system. This includes supporting our teachers

  • Support investments in high quality Pre-K and early learning programs that directly support a seamless cradle to career pipeline

  • Build public and private partnerships to provide wrap around services and support for all schools and families.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
KEEPING RESIDENTS IN THEIR HOME & PROTECTING RESIDENTS FROM EFFECTS OF COMMUNITY DISPLACEMENT. I WOULD DO THIS:

  • Advocate for increased funding to support city-wide programs assisting residents remain in their home

  • Advocate for city development projects that invest into community job creation in Dorchester, Mattapan and Roslindale

  • Supporting citywide programs to increase community access to affordable housing

COMMUNITY SAFETY
WITHOUT A DOUBT, OUR COMMUNITIES ARE THE MOST DANGEROUS WHEN COMPARED TO THE REST OF BOSTON. THIS IS WHAT I WOULD DO IN ORDER TO KEEP RESIDENTS SAFE:

  • Establish resident outreach programs to strengthen confidence in local police

  • Support community policing and foot patrols to promote and facilitate community dialogue

  • Advocate for citywide police mentorship program for Boston’s youth

COMMUNITY INVESTMENT
OUR SMALL BUSINESSES IN THE DISTRICT NEED HELP. WE ALSO NEED A DIVERSITY OF SMALL BUSINESSES. HERE’S MY PLAN:

  • Allow my city council office to serve as your #1 resource for starting a small business

  • Empower women and minority-owned businesses to increase equity in city’s economy

  • Advocate for incentives that support small business job creation within community
